Bermuda has an unusually crowded mobile market for a small island. One Communications, Digicel and Paradise Mobile all run networks and each talks about 5G, and One Communications publishes a Tourist eSIM aimed at visitors with plans from one day to thirty. A prepaid eSIM can be installed before departure, so a connection can be ready when the plane lands. This guide covers what the operators publish, how their 5G claims fit together, and the arrival and customs details published by the airport.

## One Communications' Tourist eSIM

One Communications, known as OneComm, lists four Tourist eSIM plans. At the time of checking, the 1-day plan cost $5 for 1 GB, the 3-day plan $7 for 2 GB, the 7-day plan $20 for 5 GB and the 30-day plan $50 for 25 GB. Every plan includes a local Bermuda number, unlimited calling and texting within Bermuda and instant eSIM delivery by email, and OneComm describes the coverage as full island-wide. International calls are charged at $0.75 per minute.

OneComm says you can buy online or by dialling short codes from *777*40# to *777*43# depending on the plan. The device must support eSIM, be unlocked and have Wi-Fi for activation. Plans are non-refundable once activated and expire at the end of the validity period or when the data runs out, whichever comes first. Because the data allowance can end a plan early, a 1 GB day plan is for light use, not a day of video calls.

## Digicel and Paradise Mobile for visitors

Digicel Bermuda's tourist page lists Travel SIM plans of 5 GB for BMD 30 covering 22 countries and 10 GB for BMD 40 covering 21 countries, each valid for 30 days. They are described as regional Caribbean travel plans, and the page does not say whether they are intended for visitors to Bermuda or for residents going away, so check with Digicel before choosing one.

Paradise Mobile's service terms say it offers eSIMs and that, as of 1 June 2025, new lines may require the first month to be paid before activation. The terms describe a written agreement with a 14-day cancellation window and say roaming is for travel rather than permanent use abroad. They do not describe a visitor product, so a short-stay traveller will probably find OneComm's published plans simpler.

## Three operators, three 5G claims

The Royal Gazette reported on 23 November 2023 that OneComm had launched Bermuda's first 5G network, starting in Hamilton, with the company saying up to 75 per cent of island coverage was 5G ready and that Samsung devices would follow in the first quarter of 2024. The article notes that the regulator had lifted a moratorium on 5G in 2021 after community safety concerns were addressed through consultation. OneComm's own page says 5G access is available to postpaid and prepaid customers on iPhone 12 and newer and a short list of Samsung models, switched on in the phone's mobile data settings with Voice over LTE enabled.

Operator Watch, an industry blog, reports that Digicel activated its 5G+ network island-wide in July 2025 and that Paradise Mobile, the newest entrant, launched in 2023 to 2024 with a 5G-first approach and says it won Ookla's award for fastest 5G twice. Those are claims drawn from the operators and an industry newsletter, not regulator measurements. The same post cites GSMA Intelligence data of 65,200 active mobile connections in January 2025, equal to 101 per cent of the population.

For a visitor the main implication is device compatibility. OneComm lists the iPhone and Samsung models that can use its 5G, so check your phone against that list; if it is not there, 4G is the realistic expectation, and on an island this small that is still enough for maps and messaging.

## The Arrival Card

The airport's customs and immigration page says all visitors must complete an Arrival Card, either online at bermudaarrivalcard.com or on arrival, and that a current passport is mandatory. Completing it online before the flight saves time at the immigration desk. Save the confirmation where you can open it offline.

## Customs form and duty-free limits

A Customs Traveller Declaration form, supplied by airlines or available in the Arrivals Hall, needs to be completed only by those exceeding their duty-free allowance, according to the airport page.

The page lists a $50 allowance on personal goods for visitors, duty at 25 per cent on excess amounts, and a requirement to declare cash or negotiable instruments above BDA $10,000. It also lists duty-free limits for adults on spirits, wine and tobacco. Read the page before you pack if you are bringing gifts.

## Emergency number and keeping your home line

The UK Foreign Office gives 911 for ambulance, fire, police and maritime rescue in Bermuda. OneComm's plans list unlimited local calling.

Apple's guidance says an iPhone must be unlocked to use a travel eSIM, which matches OneComm's own unlocked-phone requirement, and that the data line is chosen in Settings, Cellular. Google says Pixel 3a and later phones can combine a physical SIM and an eSIM. Samsung describes SIM manager for adding an eSIM. Our Bermuda plan page is another option for data arranged before you fly.

Emergency calls: Many travel eSIMs carry data only, and a data-only profile may not place a normal phone call. Keep a voice-capable SIM for emergencies, such as your home SIM or a local plan, and save the local emergency number from this guide.
