Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba are special municipalities of the Netherlands in the Caribbean, and for a traveller the key fact is that each island handles immigration separately, so the UK Foreign Office tells visitors to carry a passport when moving from one island to another. Digicel publishes a Tourist eSIM page for Bonaire priced in US dollars, with roaming across Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, and prepaid Mega Data and Prime Ultra plans. This guide reads Digicel Bonaire's pages, the Saba tourist bureau and the UK Foreign Office, and says where the pages cover only one of the three islands.

## Digicel's Tourist eSIM for Bonaire, Aruba and Curaçao

Digicel Bonaire's Tourist eSIM page describes an eSIM preloaded with the plan that matches your stay, giving local data, calls and texts with no roaming charges across Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. At the time of checking, the 7 Days in Paradise eSIM cost USD 30.00 tax included for 7 GB, 60 minutes to other networks and endless Digicel minutes and SMS, the 14 Days eSIM cost USD 50.00 for 20 GB, and the 28 Days eSIM cost USD 90.00 for 50 GB with 200 minutes to other networks.

The page's FAQ says all Tourist SIMs expire one month after becoming active unless you buy a top-up, that a plan cannot be renewed after the initial period but an LTE plan can be bought while the SIM is active, that anywhere minutes can call any destination except Jamaica and Haiti on mobiles and landlines, and that balances can be checked in the MyDigicel app. The page covers Bonaire and its neighbours, not Sint Eustatius or Saba, so we make no claim that the eSIM works there.

## Mega Data and Prime Ultra plans for a Bonaire line

Digicel Bonaire's prepaid page lists data-only Mega Data plans, with rollover data and a 48-hour grace period. At the time of checking, a 1-day plan cost USD 2.79 for 600 MB, a 2-day plan USD 6.99 for 2 GB, a 3-day plan USD 8.99 for 3 GB, a 7-day plan USD 16.99 for 8 GB, a 10-day plan USD 23.99 for 10 GB and a 30-day plan USD 39.99 for 15 GB.

Prime Ultra bundles add endless Digicel minutes and social messaging: a 1-day bundle cost USD 3.99 for 1 GB plus 1 GB of entertainment data, a 3-day bundle USD 10.99 for 4 GB, a 7-day bundle USD 19.99 for 10 GB, a 10-day bundle USD 27.99 for 12 GB and a 30-day bundle USD 61.99 for 20 GB, with lower auto-renew prices. The page does not say what identification a visitor needs, and the Digicel Bonaire pages do not cover the other two islands.

## Three islands, three immigration checks

The UK Foreign Office says UK visitors can stay in Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba for up to three months per island without a visa, that a passport must have an expiry date at least six months after arrival, and that you must bring your passport when travelling from one island to another because each island handles immigration separately. It points to the Netherlands Embassy and Netherlands Worldwide for entry questions, and says you must always carry some form of ID, such as a copy of your passport.

For a phone, that means keeping scans of your passport and your onward bookings available offline. Rules differ by nationality, so check Netherlands Worldwide for your own passport.

## Reaching Saba, by air or by sea

The Saba tourist bureau says most visitors connect through St Maarten's Princess Juliana airport, that flights to Saba take no more than 12 minutes, that Winair has four daily flights from St Maarten and that a valid passport is required on entry. It says ferries run from St Maarten, St Eustatius or St Kitts, including the Makana ferry, a 72-foot catamaran carrying up to 150 passengers, and that the ride from St Maarten or St Eustatius takes about 90 minutes.

The bureau also lists the Trail Shop in Windwardside, at the foot of the Mount Scenery trail, for hiking information. We found no operator or regulator page on mobile coverage for Saba or Sint Eustatius, so download maps and bookings before you cross.

## Hurricane risk differs by island, and drug smuggling checks

The UK Foreign Office says the hurricane season normally runs from June to November, that most hurricanes pass well to the north of Bonaire, which has no record of a recent major hurricane, and that St Eustatius and Saba, like many islands in the northern and eastern Caribbean, have experienced severe hurricanes. It tells visitors to monitor the Curaçao meteorological department, which covers all islands in the Kingdom, and the US National Hurricane Center.

It adds that petty theft and street crime happen, that drug smugglers use the islands as a route from South America, so you should never leave bags unattended or agree to carry a package, and that Dutch authorities generally screen baggage and passengers leaving the islands.

## Emergency numbers

The UK Foreign Office lists 911 or 913 for an ambulance, 911 or 912 for fire, 911 for police and 913 for the coastguard across Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba. Our Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba plan page covers data before you arrive.

Emergency calls: Many travel eSIMs carry data only, and a data-only profile may not place a normal phone call. Keep a voice-capable SIM for emergencies, such as your home SIM or a local plan, and save the local emergency number from this guide.
