- Apple's newest iPads (iPad A16, iPad Air M2 and later, iPad Pro M4 and later, iPad mini A17 Pro) have no physical SIM slot in their Wi-Fi + Cellular versions: they use eSIM only. Some models sold in certain regions ship without eSIM even when the same model supports it elsewhere, so check the exact model you own.

### Does my iPad need to be unlocked to use a travel eSIM?

Yes. A device locked to a carrier may refuse an eSIM from another provider. A device bought unlocked is not affected, and the carrier that sold a locked device can unlock it.

### How do I install an eSIM on my iPad?
