# St. Vincent & Grenadines travel eSIM guide

> St Vincent and the Grenadines mobile guide: Digicel's Caribbean Travel SIM, a 120-day SIM at XCD 25, La Soufrière's 2021 eruption, Beryl damage on Mayreau and Union, six-month stays and 911.

St Vincent and the Grenadines is a chain of islands where the main island's volcano, La Soufrière, erupted explosively in 2021, and where Hurricane Beryl damaged tourist infrastructure on Mayreau, Union and some smaller islands in July 2024. Digicel publishes a Tourist SIM page with Caribbean Travel SIM plans in US and Eastern Caribbean dollars and a new-customer SIM valid for 120 days. The national emergency agency, NEMO, publishes hurricane resources and shelter lists. This guide reads Digicel's pages, NEMO, the UWI Seismic Research Centre and the UK Foreign Office, and says where a page left a question open.

## Digicel's Tourist SIM page, in two currencies

Digicel St Vincent and the Grenadines' page, headed Get a Tourist SIM Today, lists a Caribbean Travel SIM 5GB at USD 30 or XCD 82.00 tax included, with 5 GB of any-use data over 30 days across 22 countries, and a Caribbean Travel SIM 10GB at USD 40 or XCD 109.00, covering 21 countries. It also lists a Diaspora USA Plan eSIM at XCD 35.00 with 10 GB, 1,000 local minutes and 100 international minutes, covering St Lucia and the United States.

The page does not list the countries covered by the Caribbean plans, so confirm that St Vincent and the Grenadines is among them before you pay. Activation is on a compatible device and the account is managed in the MyDigicel app.

## Prime Ultra bundles and the 120-day SIM

Digicel's prepaid page for the islands lists Prime Ultra bundles that include social messaging and entertainment data. At the time of checking, the 1-day bundle cost XCD 5.50 for 4 GB with 10 minutes to other networks, the 3-day bundle XCD 13.90 for 7.5 GB, the 7-day bundle XCD 31.90 for 16 GB, the 14-day bundle XCD 59.90 for 22 GB and the 30-day bundle XCD 119.90 for 25 GB plus 15 GB of TikTok and YouTube data, or 107.90 when set to auto-renew.

For new customers the page lists a New Customer SIM with 7.5 GB of data, endless Digicel minutes and endless social messaging for XCD 25.00, valid for 120 days. The page does not say what identification a visitor must show, and its switching steps refer to a competitor SIM and a government ID. Because many Grenadines are small, ask in a store whether the bundle works on the island you plan to visit.

## La Soufrière: the 2021 eruption and monitoring

The UWI Seismic Research Centre's page on the 2020 to 2021 La Soufrière eruption says the volcano began to erupt effusively in December 2020 before switching to an explosive event, which led to the evacuation of approximately 22,000 people, the activation of 88 shelters and clean-up costs of over EC$28 million. The centre also publishes scientific advisories. The UK Foreign Office says the last explosive eruption was in 2021.

We found no current alert-level statement for La Soufrière in the pages we read, so check the centre's site and NEMO before visiting the north of the main island. The Foreign Office also tells visitors to monitor the alert level of Kick 'em Jenny, the underwater volcano near Grenada, and to keep out of maritime exclusion zones.

## Hurricane Beryl damage, and NEMO's resources

The UK Foreign Office says Hurricane Beryl, which struck the islands in July 2024, caused a lot of damage to tourist infrastructure on Mayreau and Union, and that smaller islands such as Palm Island and Petit St Vincent in the Tobago Cays are also still affected, which has affected hotel availability, other facilities and services at the airport. It advises confirming arrangements with your agent or accommodation before visiting those islands, and says the hurricane season runs from June to November.

NEMO's homepage carries a 2026 Atlantic hurricane tracking chart, the 2026 emergency shelters list and a monthly climatic bulletin. Save the shelter list for the island you stay on before you travel. We found no official coverage map for the outer islands, so keep a charged power bank.

## Six-month stays, the passport rule and crime advice

The UK Foreign Office says UK visitors need no visa and are granted six months on entry, with extensions from the Immigration Department, that a passport must have an expiry date at least six months after arrival, and that you need an import licence to bring any food because of foot and mouth disease. It says you must get a local temporary driving licence, which car hire companies usually help with, and that minor roads have steep drops without safety barriers.

It reports an increase in gang-related murders involving guns, some in public areas, and advises avoiding isolated areas including beaches after dark and taking care at street and beach parties, especially around Vincy Mas carnival in early July. Rules differ by nationality, so check the High Commission for your own passport.

## Emergency numbers

The UK Foreign Office gives 911 or 999 for ambulance, fire and police in St Vincent and the Grenadines, with 911 for an ambulance, 999 for police and a police landline of 457 1211. Our Saint Vincent and the Grenadines plan page covers data before you arrive.

Emergency calls: Many travel eSIMs carry data only, and a data-only profile may not place a normal phone call. Keep a voice-capable SIM for emergencies, such as your home SIM or a local plan, and save the local emergency number from this guide.
