How the prices are chosen
For every country we look at the plans made for that country (when a country has none of its own, at the plans that cover it) and pick the cheapest one that is valid for the whole trip and holds enough data: 0.3 GB a day for light use, 1 GB a day for everyday use. A per-day plan is priced for the days of the trip and judged on its daily allowance. Regional and global plans are left out when a country has plans of its own, because they cover many countries; each destination page lists them next to the local plans.
The allowance per day is an assumption, not a measurement. The same country can cost more or less for your phone: try the data calculator, and see how each country compares per gigabyte in the price index.
