O! lets foreign visitors start the eSIM process abroad
O! says foreign nationals can obtain its eSIM through the My O! app before arriving in Kyrgyzstan. The app asks the customer to become an O! subscriber, select a tariff, verify identity with a passport and pay for the chosen options. Installation can use automatic phone settings or a QR code delivered by email. The important timing distinction is the operator's own: telecom service becomes active only while the visitor is inside Kyrgyzstan. Buying the profile during an international connection should therefore not be treated as working data for that connection.
O! also lists O!Stores and physical SIM delivery. A shop is a fallback if passport verification fails or the handset cannot add an eSIM. The operator warns that a number left unregistered after 30 days can enter a paid reservation period, depending on the tariff, and eventually be deactivated if funds run out. That number rule is distinct from registering the phone itself.
Beeline's app gives a second local eSIM route
Beeline's eSIM instructions start in the My Beeline+Balance app. The customer chooses Join Beeline, requests an eSIM, selects a number and tariff, confirms identity and activates the profile or scans its QR code. Beeline describes eSIM connection itself as free, but the chosen tariff still has its own charge. Its page says the new line can operate alongside an existing physical SIM. Complete identity checks while a dependable connection is available; a partially installed profile is an awkward first task after leaving Manas airport.
At the time of checking, Beeline advertised Ukmush AI with 80 GB for 350 KGS per 30 days and 60 minutes to other Kyrgyz networks. Its listing distinguishes ordinary data from app-specific bonuses, so compare the base allowance and renewal period with expected navigation, video and tethering use. Beeline publishes support at *611 from its own lines and +996 775 58 06 11 from other networks. Save that second number before changing SIM.
Check the device registration rule, not just the SIM
O!'s visitor FAQ says mobile phones must be entered in Kyrgyzstan's State Identification System through imei.kg. It says a handset that is not registered can stop working across Kyrgyz mobile networks, even though the SIM and number remain active and can be used in another registered handset. This is an important distinction for a visitor who successfully buys a local eSIM but later loses service. Do not assume reinstalling the eSIM or buying another Kyrgyz SIM will solve a device registration problem.
Ask the operator how the rule applies to your handset and stay. Have its IMEI and your passport ready: the IMEI identifies the device, while the eSIM profile identifies the subscription. O!'s FAQ does not establish a universal visitor fee or deadline, so avoid budgeting from unofficial charts. If service disappears after working normally, seek help in town before the next remote stage.
Treat coverage maps as planning aids on mountain routes
O!'s coverage tool lets a traveller switch between 2G, 3G and 4G layers. That makes a route check more useful than a broad claim of national coverage: inspect the settlements and road sections between Bishkek and Issyk-Kul, or the longer journey towards Naryn, before choosing a line. The operator says its map is a computer simulation that even includes towers intended for commissioning. It explicitly warns that terrain, weather, buildings and the handset can make actual service different from the coloured area. Do not read a marked road as a guarantee of data through every pass or valley.
A phone may have signal at a town stop and lose it on the next stretch, while a downloaded map continues working. Save directions, accommodation details and a meeting point before a mountain transfer. Compare operators' maps if several people are travelling, and keep tickets or directions on more than one device.
A Kyrgyz tariff needs a separate roaming check at borders
A Kyrgyz allowance should not be assumed to continue into Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan. O! publishes separate roaming activation and packages. Check the destination in its roaming list and activate any option while still connected in Kyrgyzstan. Review data roaming on a home SIM retained for calls or bank messages.
Phones can attach automatically to a foreign network near a border, which can start roaming charges on a line that still has data roaming switched on. Consider choosing the network manually or switching data roaming off on that line near the crossing, and keep border documents and onward directions available offline.
Use the airport connection to finish setup
The airport authority describes free Wi-Fi in an upgraded waiting area at Manas International Airport. The announcement concerns that passenger area, so save eSIM instructions before take-off rather than assuming connectivity throughout arrivals. Allow time for app identity verification before an onward transfer out of Bishkek.
On a dual-SIM phone, label the Kyrgyz profile and the home line clearly. Set the intended line for mobile data, then check whether the home line is allowed to roam for data; keeping the home number for messages does not require making it the data line. Apple's dual-SIM guidance explains that the active data line can be chosen separately and that the phone needs to be unlocked to use different carriers. Check device compatibility before purchasing and retain the QR email for support, while following the operator's instructions before deleting or moving a profile. A successful activation should be tested with mobile data away from Wi-Fi before setting off.
Save the official emergency number before leaving town
Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Emergency Situations identifies 112 as the unified emergency number. Put it in the phone contacts along with the accommodation and the next transport provider. A data-only eSIM should be treated as a data connection unless its provider expressly confirms voice calling; a messaging app is not a substitute for an ordinary emergency call. If the phone contains a working voice-capable line, know which line it will use to dial. The ministry page confirms the number, but it does not establish that a particular data-only eSIM can place a call to it.
Before leaving Bishkek, check handset registration and the tariff, download the route and tell someone the next stop. If the line fails, check coverage, allowance, data-line selection and device registration in turn. A spare charger and written address help when navigation and payment screens cannot load.
