touch's prepaid data bundles
Touch's prepaid page lists 4G and 4.5G Mobile Internet bundles activated by SMS to 1188. At the time of checking, M1 cost $3.50 for 1 GB, M7 cost $9 for 7 GB, M22 cost $14.50 for 22 GB, M44 cost $21 for 44 GB, M77 cost $31 for 77 GB and M111 cost $40 for 111 GB, with a 444 GB bundle at $129. The page claims speeds up to 150 Mbps on 4G and 300 Mbps on 4.5G, which is the operator's figure rather than a measurement.
The terms say the megabytes are for local use and are not carried over, that the bundle renews automatically every 30 days and can be cancelled by sending DMI to 1188, and that a balance check is *220#. Prices exclude taxes, and recharge vouchers are sold in Lebanese pounds at the Sayrafa rate. A data-only SIM or router pass is available from service centres, which suggests a visit in person.
touch's eSIM, and the price it lists
Touch's eSIM page describes a digital SIM embedded in a compatible smartphone or tablet that activates a number without a physical card, with support for one physical SIM and one eSIM active at once. The page lists the cost of activation: $7 for a new prepaid line, $16.67 for a new postpaid line and $1.67 to swap a physical SIM to an eSIM.
The page's questions on how to get an eSIM, what to do with the QR code and whether Apple Watch is supported are collapsed, and we could not read their answers. It does not say what identification a visitor needs. Ask a touch service centre or call support before you rely on buying a line on arrival.
Alfa's Mobile Internet bundles and add-ons
Alfa's prepaid Mobile Internet page lists monthly 4G+ bundles, with prices that exclude VAT. At the time of checking, 1 GB cost $3.50, 7 GB cost $9, 22 GB cost $14.50, 44 GB cost $21, 77 GB cost $31, 111 GB cost $40 and 444 GB cost $129, subscribed by SMS to 1050 or through *111# or the Alfa app. A 3 GB bundle at $6.90 is listed for the Alfa Prepaid plan, with free minutes and SMS only if you subscribe to the Alfa Go bundle.
You must choose when subscribing whether the bundle will include automatic data add-ons, which last 3 days and are charged only if enabled, from $0.35 for 300 MB to $5 for 25 GB. The subscription renews every 30 days and unused megabytes do not accumulate. The page does not say what a visitor must show to buy an Alfa line, so check in a store.
The travel advice, in brief, and why it matters for a plan
The UK Foreign Office advises against all travel to parts of Lebanon and against all but essential travel to other parts, and says its update on 10 August 2026 changed those areas. It names parts of Beirut's southern suburbs and Mount Lebanon, the South and Nabatiyeh governorates and parts of the Beqaa Governorate. It says travel insurance could be invalidated if you travel against its advice and that consular support is severely limited in those places.
Read the current page for your route before you pick a plan, and carry your accommodation's number and a paper copy of your itinerary. The advice does not describe mobile coverage, and we found no regulator coverage map we could read.
Free visa on arrival, power cuts and photography rules
The Foreign Office says British citizens can normally get a free single-entry tourist visa on arrival at Beirut airport, valid for one month and extendable up to three months at General Security offices, and that overstay fines at the airport are payable only in Lebanese currency. It warns that immigration officers check visitors' names against a database of offenders and that entry requirements can change at short notice. Check with the Lebanese Embassy before you travel, since rules differ by nationality.
It says the power plants supply limited electricity to the grid, leading to power cuts, that many businesses use generators, and that streetlights often do not work, so you should keep your phone charged and carry a torch. It also advises avoiding photography in Hizballah areas and says you could be arrested for photographing military sites, and that flying drones without permission is illegal.
Emergency numbers
The UK Foreign Office lists 112 for police, 140 for an ambulance and 175 for fire in Lebanon. Our Lebanon plan page covers data before you arrive.
